The Design and manufacture of military trailers is a core capability of Universal Engineering. For over 10 years, the company has produced a wide range of military trailers which are in service all over the world with the UK MOD and Prime Contractors.
As well as ‘build to print’ projects, Universal Engineering produce ruggedised military trailers that are tailor made to our customers own exacting specifications.
We also work with the customer, to ensure that the trailers work with the towing vehicles, so as not to impede mobility.
Anti-Lock Brake systems and Auto-reversing disc brakes (compliant with current EU regulations) can also be fitted along with any other equipment specified by the customer.

The robust design of our trailers ensures that they are suitable for a wide range of environments (-46˚C to + 52˚C) and are rugged enough to cope with the harshest of terrain wherever deployed, across the globe.

XM High Mobility Skeletal Trailer
Universal’s New XM High Mobility Skeletal Trailer is a sturdy trailer chassis designed to carry a wide range of demountable bodies tailored to specific roles.
The bodies/superstructures are located and retained by twist locks positioned at each end of the chassis.
Auto-reversing disc brakes operate hydraulically from the drawbar unit, both of which conform to current EU legislation.

XM High Mobility Skeletal Trailer (continued)
An emergency break-away device is fitted.
The independent suspension is by coil springs and trailing arms.
The XMT is fitted with a swing-to-stow jockey wheel featuring a side winding mechanism for ease of operation.
Two rear wind down steady legs embodying the same side winding mechanism enables wheel changing without a separate jack.
Road lighting is fully EU compliant.
XM Panther Trailer
Universal’s new XM Panther Trailer is a sturdy trailer chassis designed to carry a wide range of demountable bodies tailored to specific roles.
To increase commonality with the standard prime mover (Iveco Panther) the XM Panther Trailer is fitted with wheels and tyres common to the Iveco Panther. The XM Panther Trailer is designed to offer a stable load base capable of traversing extreme terrain conditions at speed.

Type 0011 IMMT
Universal’s new Type 0011 Improved Medium Mobility Trailer is a sturdy monocoque unit with a drop down tailgate, designed to take a laden 1 Tonne NATO pallet.

Universal’s HMSV (3 tonne load capacity) trailer has a sturdy chassis designed to carry a wide range of demountable bodies tailored to specific roles.
The HMSV trailer is designed to offer a stable load base capable of traversing extreme conditions and to match the prime mover performance characteristics without degradation of the combined system properties.

The trailer has been designed to compliment the Man ERF support vehicle and is fitted with an air-powered ABS disc braking system designed to fully integrate with the prime mover.
